Resources

Here are some resources that we’ve gathered into a single location. If you’re looking for something in particular, feel free to post to the Facebook page (linked below) and we might be able to help. If you know of any resources, please contact the webmasters using this google form  so we can share it with others. We will continue to update this space!

  • GrASP Official FacebookOur official Facebook! This is where we organize events and keep in touch with each other. Even if you don’t use Facebook much, it’s a good idea to join so you can see what’s going on.
  • Department WebpageOur official department webpage. Highlights include Department Forms (so you can reserve a room if needed) and About Us (which leads to the individual program pages).
  • NCSU SONAThis is where you can recruit undergraduates for your studies. If you’re a TA for PSY 200, you’ll need to use this site to confirm that your students have completed their research credits. You can see the credit reports by appending ‘Reports’ (minus the quotes) to the URL and logging-in with the information provided by the Head TA.

  • Reference ManagersThere a lots of different reference managers out there, and if you don’t use one, you should! This site lists some alternatives to EndNote, which is one of the more expensive managers out there. Lots of them are free, so look around!
  • Purdue OWL APA GuideQuick place to check all those little APA formatting questions. Excellent quick reference that is easily navigated.
  • Registry of Research Data Repositories: Psychology: Some useful data repositories. This links directly to the site’s section for psychology, but there’s lots more available that you might find useful.
  • Center for Data on the MindA very big list of datasets and repositories — very useful! Focus is on big data, but there’s a little bit of everything here.
  • Get an ORCIDORCIDs are better-known in the hard sciences, but they’re gaining popularity in psychology as well. You can use an ORCID (pronounced like ‘orchid’) to keep track of your presentations, publications, funding, and education/employment, as well as to avoid getting yourself mixed up with someone who has a similar name (increasingly important online). Some funders and publishers have begun to require ORCIDs, so it’s better to get one now and keep it current rather than get one later!
  • NCSU QualtricsHere are instructions for how to sign up for qualtrics as a graduate student. Doing it through NC State rather than signing up as a regular user nets you some benefits, so make sure you do it this way! Note that Qualtrics is not screen reader accessible.
  • The International Society of Nonbinary Scientists: An awesome new resource for those identify as nonbinary and as a scientist! They have a Slack workspace, and accept applications for membership. They also have their own list of resources and t-shirts!
  • Departmental Travel Reimbursement Process: A new document put together by the GrASP officers to help walk graduate students through the travel reimbursement process with the department. No longer do we have to poke blindly around on MyPack to figure out how to get our money back!
